FlyingZERO marks first 120 days of operations with trusted performance across emergency response, drone delivery and institutional missions

FlyingZERO, the aviation service of ZERO operated by SKY Mobility (Malta) Ltd., today marked the completion of its first 120 days of regulated operations, demonstrating how electric drone logistics can deliver faster, lower-noise and highly precise transport solutions across Malta and Gozo.
SKY Mobility (Malta) Ltd. is the Malta-based authorised operator conducting the aviation operations behind FlyingZERO. The company holds the relevant operational authorisation approved by Transport Malta Civil Aviation Directorate (TM CAD) and operates within the applicable EU/EASA framework.
Over its first 120 days of operations, FlyingZERO executed 465 flights, completed 408 customer-confirmed missions, delivered more than 200 time-critical or high-priority consignments, and achieved an on-time performance of 93 percent across customer-confirmed flights.
The first operational phase was designed to validate two core use cases for Malta: emergency response support, where every minute matters, and drone delivery services, where speed, precision, sustainability and access can improve how goods and critical items move between locations.

Emergency response and drone delivery: proving real-world use cases
FlyingZERO’s first 120 days showed that electric air delivery can support mission types where timing, coordination and execution matter. The company’s model is designed to complement conventional transport, not replace it, by serving consignments and missions where speed, predictability and controlled delivery create real operational value.
Among the milestone operations completed during this period were daily medical logistics operations for St. James Hospital, supporting the transfer of time-critical supplies between Zejtun and Sliema; the delivery of the BOV Super Cup trophy to the National Stadium ahead of the final football match; and the precision delivery of Maltas Vision 2050 document to the event stage at Tritons Square, Valletta.

Strong performance in contracted medical logistics
A core part of FlyingZERO´s first operational phase was its contracted medical logistics activity for St. James Hospital. On the Zejtun Sliema route, FlyingZERO executed 212 deliveries with 100 percent delivered performance recorded in SKY Mobility´s operator log for that contracted service.
Applied specifically to St. James Hospital operations on the Zejtun Sliema route only, FlyingZERO estimates that these operations avoided approximately 220 kg of CO2e emissions, replaced 2,120 km of road transport, and saved approximately 88 hours compared with conventional transport alternatives.
Safety, security and responsible operations
FlyingZERO´s first 120 days were conducted within a controlled operational framework built around safety, compliance and conservative decision-making. Across this period, the company maintained a disciplined approach to mission planning, weather assessment and operational limitations, including more than 24 weather-related no-go or delayed decisions taken in the interest of safety.

Environmental considerations addressed with evidence-based operations
FlyingZERO environmental concerns have been treated as part of the operating model from the outset. This includes local noise, potential impact on animals, the climate impact of energy use, battery production and disposal, and the need to demonstrate measurable emissions reductions rather than simply claim them.
Based on a standardized comparison methodology using a 10 km road-delivery baseline, a road transport factor of 0.17067 kg CO2/km, a Malta electricity emission factor of 0.389 kg CO2/kWh, and average drone energy consumption of 0.352 kWh per delivery, FlyingZERO estimates that its operations produce approximately 92 percent lower emissions than traditional delivery on the modelled route basis.
Ready to scale responsibly
Following the successful completion of its first 120 operational days, FlyingZERO is now preparing for its next stage of growth, subject to TM CAD approval. Priorities include connecting Gozo with Malta, expanding air delivery services for businesses and manufacturers in Gozo, investment in additional fleet and employment, and continued development of sustainable strategic partnerships.
